BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

YARL TV - (Founder)

Following the Sri Lanka civil war in 2009, I noticed a significant gap between the Sinhala and Tamil communities, owing primarily to language barriers. It was clear to me that this divide had to be addressed in a meaningful way. In 2013, motivated by a strong sense of purpose, I proposed the audacious idea of launching a television channel dedicated to closing this gap.

Pitching the concept to ASK Media Network top management was only the start of a long and difficult journey. To gain support and resources for the project, it was necessary to be persistent and persuasive. Despite numerous challenges and setbacks, my conviction never wavered. Yarl Television was finally launched in 2019, after years of meticulous planning and preparation, with the inspiring tagline “Friendship Channel”.

As the founder and head of Yarl Television, I bear a great deal of responsibility. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, requiring unwavering focus and adaptability. From curating compelling content that resonates with our diverse audience to navigating the complexities of advertising and revenue generation, every decision I make is motivated by a strong commitment to our overall mission.

However, my role is much more than just operational. It entails cultivating a culture of inclusivity and understanding both within the organization and in the communities served. It requires me to set a good example by demonstrating empathy, respect, and collaboration in everything I do.

Finally, leading Yarl Television is more than just a job; it is a calling. It is about using the power of media to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and, ultimately, the creation of a more peaceful society. And as I navigate this ever-changing landscape, I remain committed to this noble cause, knowing that each effort brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of unity and friendship.
